Iceland

Natural wonders & Nordic cuisine

This short Iceland itinerary uses the capital of Reykjavik as a base to explore the highlights of the island. Its the perfect stopover to add on before or after a trip elsewhere in Europe, or for those who only have time for a quick getaway.

Day 1

Arrive Reykjavik mid-morning and enjoy a private transfer to your hotel. We love the beautiful Hilton Reykjavik Nordica and the Hotel Borg, both centrally located.

Learn the layout of the city with an easy, guided evening bike tour from Reykjavik Bike Tours - also a great way to stretch your legs after your flight!

Relax over a modern Nordic dinner at the upscale Kopar Restaurant in Reykjavik harbor, where the views are as beautiful as the food.

Day 2

You’ll spend your first full day in Iceland on a private guided trip to the island’s most scenic natural landmarks - Reynisfjara black sand beach, Sólheimajökull glacier, and the Skógafoss waterfall.

In the afternoon you’ll stop at a traditional Icelandic farm for a rustic lunch and, afterwards, meet some of Iceland’s famous horses.

For dinner, try the Icelandic Feast menu at TapasBarinn where the multicourse menu includes traditional dishes Icelanders have eaten for generations like puffin, whale, and the national drink of Iceland - Brennivin.

Day 3

Spend your last full day in Reykjavik exploring some of the city’s more unique sites.

Eimverk Distillery is Iceland’s first and only whisky distillery and a perfect destination anyone with an interest in spirits. Learn about the distilling process and sample wisky and gin in their tasting room.

The Perlan Museum is the newest museum in Reykjavik and showcases exhibits on Iceland’s natural history and geography. A observation deck and café on the top floor offer a fantastic place to grab lunch with views of the city.

And for those with a sense of whimsey, take in a storytelling session at the Icelandic Elfschool. Over half of Icelanders say they believe in elves, and this is a great place to learn more about the island’s traditional folklore.

For dinner we recommend the casual 101 Reykjavik Street Food, who’s fish and chips was recently ranked #1 in the world!

Day 4

No trip to Iceland is complete without a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa.

Store your luggage with the desk clerks and enjoy several hours of relaxing in the geothermal springs, sauna, and steam room. In-water massages and other pampering spa experiences can be added.

Enjoy lunch at the on-site Lava Restaurant before catching a private transfer to Keflavik Airport for your late afternoon return flight.
